The YCA Grading Program

This grading program uses the MySQL database which runs on a web-server in Docklands. You can explore the database to find games organised by player, by event, or by match. You can also see the results on which your grade is based. Here is the English Chess Federation page explaining the calculation of grades.

The database now contains three years standardplay results. Starting last year, rapidplay results have also been collected, so that in future rapidplay grades can be calculated and published.

This site represents the third stage towards putting the grading system on-line, so that the public can log on and see the latest chess results. Historically, grading has been a retrospective process, annually processing past results. In future this site will introduce on-line match cards, allowing team captains to instantly report and publish match results, automatically updating the league tables. With the collaboration of event organisers, the site could also look forwards, publishing fixture lists and calendars.

Grading Codes are now of the form 1234 rather than Y1234 as in the past. Each player's number is the same, only the "Y" has been dropped. Six-digit numbers are used for non-Yorkshire players for whom YCA grades are not calculated.

I am grateful to the ECF for allowing use of their their codes and grades, and allowing links to their web-pages.
