The 2010 Grading List This is the draft list, based on results from May 2009 to June 2010. Please verify that your playing record here is correct, and advise me if you find any errors or omissions. Corrections reported by 15th August will be included here and in the official list which will, as usual, be printed in September.
The YCA Rapidplay Grading List has been incorporated with the standardplay list. This is the first ever YCA rapidplay list, based on limited results from three years. The scale follows on the ECF "New Grade" rapidplay scale.
New Grades The YCA grading database has now been converted to the grading scale introduced last year by the English Chess Federation. All grades in this site are now "New Grades" except those identified from 2008 or earlier. To introduce New Grades, YCA grades from 2008 were converted by the ECF conversion formula. After a study of the 700 games between players with Category A 2009 grades, the new YCA scale was adjusted up by two points. This study will be repeated when 2010 national list is published in July, to ensure the scales remain equal.
New Grading Method This web-site is becoming a news service, where you can see and report current results. Along with the New Grades scale we have introduced a new Chessnuts Grading Method, by which grades can be re-calculated after each game. This method has been used here on the results since June 2008, and you can see how your grade has changed since then. Here is a detailed description. Rules of Chessnuts Grading
New-Look Grades Istead of 159B
my grade now looks like 159 :26
The chessnuts grading method has done away with the tradional grade Category and replaced it
with a more precise number. This number is known as the grading "Weight".
Most players will find that their Weight is close to the the number of games they play each year.
These new chessnuts features were added on 23rd June. Good Luck, and I hope you enjoy
my work.
